Girls by Theresa Ikoko – 2016

Characters: Haleema, Ruhab, Tisana.

Synopsis: This play follows the lives of three best friends. Stimulated by the events in Nigeria and the rise of Boko Haram, this play tells a story of the girls who were kidnapped and simply forgotten after their hashtag was no longer trending. Prior to their kidnapping Haleema, Ruhab and Tisana have the same worries as any other girl they discuss politics, celebrities, beauty, sex, love, marriage and religion. This hardly changes after, they use comedy, imagination and strong-will as their tool to survival and determination to escape.
