For colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf by Ntozake Shange – 1975

Synopsis: For coloured girls is a choreopoem that follows the lives of seven women of colour, differentiated by colours of the rainbow (excluding brown). Each woman is suffering from a different kind of turmoil ranging from sexual abuse, abortion, domestic violence, being the “angry black woman”, lost childhood, virginity and identity crisis. It is a beautiful piece that gives these women a platform to be unapologetically free.
