Here’s a juicy play you do not want to miss. CADETS written and performed by @danikolanis (ticket link in Dani’s bio) Thu 16 - Sat 18 May @camdenpeoplestheatre “Why does anyone even choose to go outside of London?!” Camden Cadets. The best cadet group ever!! The last time they did some actual exercise was when they ran to the chip shop. But Staff Joe said, “that doesn’t count”. When their youth group is threatened to be shut down by some evil-white-baldy-with zero-sense-of-style, they will go to any lengths to save it. (*including visiting places that aren’t in Zone 2!!) Follow the teens as they take on a torturous, back-breaking, relentless challenge to save their group. Do they have it in them?? Expect lots of laughter, 2010 tunes and true devotion to Camden Town! . . . ‪#theatrelondon #londontheatre #fringetheatre #bechdel #diversity #bametheatre #25 #whatsonlondon #theatregoer #theatregeek #camden #physicaltheatre‬ #plays4poc #theatre #acting #actor #thingstodoinlondon

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the theatre and been moved to this level. What a time to be alive! EMILIA. EMILIA. EMILIA. For the first time, I have gone to a west end theatre and felt like I was being spoken to. That my experience was known, shared, lived through. I am not alone. But should a story over 500 years old resonate so much with our modern day women? I urge you to see this play! You need to see this play! It’s a gift. #plays4poc #theatre #blackactors #emilia #emiliatheplay #women #femaleactors #female #actress #drama #acting #actor #westendtheatre #bameactors #bame #poc

If you’re free today or tomorrow make sure to check out Mami Wata by Bisola Alabi at the @bushtheatre . It’s and R & D sharing. “The show is inspired by Nigerian mythology and the water deity Mami Wata. Set in a women’s hostel, we follow the story of Fifi after she receives a letter from her absentee father. Also estranged from her mother, Fifi’s recent loss of a loved one confronts her in the form of the mysterious Mami Wata.” . #bisolaalabi #bushtheatre #youngvic #tamasha #acting #actor #plays4poc #nigeria #nigerianmythology #mythology #theatre #plays #drama #mamiwata
This play by Vivienne Franzmann is absolutely wonderful. The emotion portrayed in it is so visceral. It follows the relationship of a young woman Alex who has a type of identity crisis that most people of colour go through at some point. I remember having this at university, in the same way that Alex explains actually. Alex is adopted by a white British war photographer after he goes to Rwanda during the genocide. The picture he captures of her when she was younger is award winning but there’s more to that picture than Joseph let’s on. I truly recommend reading this amazing piece. #plays4poc #viviennefranzmann #thewitness #theatre #acting #actor #playsforbame #blackactors #royalcourt @royalcourttheatre
