I watched Gbolahan Obisesan’s “The Fishermen” at the @arcolatheatre two days ago now and it took me a minute to really find the words. When I think of compelling storytelling that’s exactly what I envision, these young men @_michaelajao and @vxlentine16 Valentine Olukoga gave it their all. Playing an array of characters between them, fantastic transformations took place before our eyes, to the point where every single character was genuinely present one entirely different from the next. Then when you get to the heart of the story, a story that starts off as an innocent children’s exploration for adventure that unfortunately ends in the dismantling of a family. It’s completely heart wrenching, I was stunned. I felt the pain, I felt the joy everything was so deep so raw. Even as I’m writing this, I’m feeling it. I urge everyone who can to watch it. It’s completely SOLD OUT but you should try waiting or calling in for any returns. ____________________ #plays4poc #thefishermem #theatre #acting #actor #actors #blackactors #arcolatheatre #gbolahanobisesan #chigozieobioma #nigeria #blackactor #blackmonologues #blackactors

@talawatc did it again! Massive congratulations to everyone involved in creating this living breathing beast of a production. A beautiful travel through time using music. A beautiful exploration of how much influence music has in our day to day, in how we see ourselves. From sexuality to gender and the differences in black culture African and Caribbean. Talawa never disappoints. I’m also so proud to have my friends involved words can’t express. __________ #runitback #talawa #theatre #theatrecompany #acting #actor #art #music #african #africanmusic #afrobeats #nigeria #carribean #barbados #stlucia #plays4poc #blacktheatre
